A world of immense exposure & collaboration yet fear, emphasis on success and competition, obsessions with hoarding, accumulation and ownership, desire to be visible, may have unknowingly depleted focus and resources of the self. Sub-merged and preoccupied with creating impressions and distinct identities could have dissipated ones real potential & perception of life.
This was “That” time ….

Social media percolated lives, being visible yet not present in the moment, self-doubt, ambiguities, comparisons and possibly an assessment of one’s worth in the eyes of the world may have impacted inner peace and personal spaces .

Restless, frenetic unconsciously designed routines worked well to escape relationships and stood in the way of exploring the self, perhaps they were often consciously woven not to face the truth or loose control.

This was “That” time ….
The onset of 2020 accentuated uncertainties, anxieties, subsistence, questioned needs, wants and survival. It forced corrections upon the world, compelling many to face their inadequacies. The absence of peace provoked questioning, basics were ‘re-taught’ and the unnecessary was finding its way out making it an inevitable process to shed and liberate.

This time was all factual where peace was being restored, not through compromises, adjustments or filling voids but by simplifying the unnecessary and understanding the essentials .

This time internally brought about strength, a sense of freedom and a reintroduction to oneself.

That is “This” time ....

“This & That “ is an amalgamation of choices humanity has been gifted with.

A choice to choose how to proceed forward.

A choice to repeal what doesn’t serve purpose anymore.

A choice to choose the best from “This & That” … today that choice lies with us …..

Khalil Chishtee | Unbearable lightness of being
The work is an attempt to connect two worlds together; the world of reality and fiction, the world that we live in and the world that lives within us.

We live in the age of plastic and trash / bin bags are the lowest form of it.

These trash bags have the ability to hold the content of my work with much more love and care, bending their form for me just like clay or any other traditional modelling material would.
Baiju Parthan | Logos & Mythos
The work depicts a collision between two mutually exclusive world views presented as patterns that overlap each other. The old and the new, the world of poiesis ( poesis) and mythos versus the world arranged and perceived through reasoning and logic.
Shivani Aggarwal | Hangers
An extension of the series of dysfunctional objects, this attempts to question how our state of being is compromised by situations and circumstances. A simple wooden hanger is pushed beyond its limits so that it changes its shape and purpose to become dysfunctional. The fragility of the object further adds to its loss of purpose.

These hangers echo the ethos of the times we are living in where anything and everything loses its defined purpose due to situational intervention.
Ranbir Kaleka | Turbulence veiled unveiled
Not visible in man's calm exteriority, an unquiet nature heaves and churns...a mirror to his inner self. Fleetingly, in self-reflection, the storm is tamed. This respite is but momentary and the man yet again silently struggles to regain his quietude; this is an unrelenting cycle.
T.V. Santhosh | Obsolete objects - II

These two sculptures are a kind of re-imagined documentation of obsolete objects that have become part of our nostalgia today. Objects that remind us of a bygone era, memories that talk about many cultural and social changes that took place as these objects came into our social and personal life, and how eventually they ended up becoming mere residual imprints of their time. They also talk about how successive paradigm shift happened in the area of technological advancement, along with its side effects, which is pushing us to redefine the idea of progress from a larger ecological perspective.
Pooja Iranna | The Meltdown
Pooja Iranna’s work presents man made structures, talking of human beings, their presence, expressions, mind and emotions without their physical existence . There is a twist to all the tales she expresses. Everything is not to be seen at the surface level. The not so straight partitions and the visible curvatures all denote a concealed part of life . This could be beautiful for some or even complex for others but whisper conflicting emotions and stories .The crux of the matter here is that life / surfaces / spaces do have twists and turns but it depends on the human mind and its strength for how one responds to them.
Remen Chopra W. Van Der Vaart
Remen Chopra W. Van Der Vaart explores the cartography of memory and how non-linear narratives are fabricated out of scattered fragments. The artist recalls family stories of Shimla and Rawalpindi, as narrated to her by her grandmother. She maps the history of these spaces by creating imaginary topographic maps to explore personal recollections as well a feeling of dislocation. Here both lived spaces coexist in one space and time.
Veer Munshi | How Green is my valley
The grid of photographs and video Is an expression of Kashmir on August 5^th 2019, when Article 370 was scraped and a communication blockade was imposed.The migration was a reminder of my youth when I was forced to leave the valley, my native place three decades ago due to political upsurge.

Sharmi Chowdhury | Inner Conversation
The images in my work are a manifestation of intimate dialogue and confrontation with the self. A self, which is an assemblage of numerous identities, in-layered by complex and interlinked personal histories. The work is embedded with universal questioning of existence itself.
Megha Joshi | Wavering Faith II

Recent times have brought into sharp focus the need to prioritize our choices. The mental act of making a choice, to believe and to convert those into action has never been more important.

In a fractured society - where one’s belief (in socio-religious and eco-political terms) is shattered daily and seldom restored, believing in anything firmly becomes even more difficult.

This concept is explored by Joshi through the abstracted metaphor of the rudraksha bead. The bead is the divided self, oscillating, rotating, trying to find order in chaos...in a perpetual motion of finding and losing faith.
